C2 North, LLC was established in 2001 by Melanie Roller to provide small business program consulting, business development, and support services to Alaskan small businesses. Ms. Roller specializes in small business minority certifications, specifically SBA’s 8(a) business development program. She also works with small businesses to determine eligibility and obtain other certifications such as HUBZone, Mentor-Protege agreements, and various DBE programs.
Ms. Roller’s experience handling small business certifications dates back to 1996 during her employment at one of the Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) regional corporations active in the 8(a) program. Her early experiences with the 8(a) program included learning the program from the contractor’s perspective and applying the program for the benefit of the firm’s business development. Subsequently, she took a position at the parent corporation with responsibilities for all of the ANC 8(a) subsidiaries in the areas of 8(a) strategy, certification and compliance while serving as the liaison with SBA.
Ms. Roller is a highly regarded expert in SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program. She is well known in the ANC and tribal communities in assisting clients achieve and maintain 8(a) status for their subsidiaries. Since starting her own consulting firm, she has assisted over 150 firms with 8(a) program certification. She has extensive experience in navigating the complex application and recertification requirements with expertise in the areas of program evaluation and recommendation; initial certification and annual updates; program training and compliance; as well as associated procurement advantages.
